HOW DOES JEWISH LAW CHANGE? AN INSIDER’S VIEW
As a noted expert on Jewish law, author of two books in the field and editor of two others, Rabbi Dr. Wayne Allen will demonstrate how Jewish law has remained vital, vibrant, and fluid yet, at the same time, stable and reliable.  Over the course of six sessions Rabbi Allen will discuss the influence of custom, the Talmudic equivalent of the “notwithstanding” clause, changing circumstances, and newly emergent principles – among other factors.  Drawing on many examples from kashrut to medical ethics, Rabbi Allen will offer important insights into understanding Judaism as a legal system.
